    Hemp may be one of the oldest plants that humans cultivate for medicinal and other purposes. It was cultivated thousands of years ago for medicines, textiles, and food. Hemp-derived products, especially hemp oils, are still popular due to their medicinal and other beneficial properties.

  However, many people confuse hemp and marijuana. 
  At first glance, hemp closely resembles marijuana due to them belonging to the same species of plant - cannabis.  The hemp plants are well known for their distinctive leaves, which are usually in dark colours. These leaves are long, narrow, and skinnier and there are usually five to eight leaflets on a single leaf. Hemp seeds are used to extract hemp oil through cold pressing as they are rich in fatty acids and other micronutrients. Hemp seeds are also called hemp hearts and can be used in to make tea or added to smoothies and salads and can be eaten raw.  The hemp stalks, however, contain more CBD (cannabidiol) compared to any other part of the plant. Hemp plants have a very distinctive smell, quite similar to pine trees.  The flowering buds of the hemp plant have the highest concentration of different cannabinoids, i.e. CBG (cannabigerol) , THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) - less than 0,3% in hemp plants, flavonoids, and terpenes. All these chemical compounds work together to produce a variety of beneficial effects.
